| 1. TEAM ORIGINS AND VALUES |
The Players Choice Player Development Team is the brainchild of Ricky Chew and five players under his tutelage. Besides being a seven time national snooker champion, Ricky’s resume includes stints as coach of Singapore’s national snooker team and personal trainer to several past as well as present national players. In
2001, Ricky added certification as ‘Pool Instructor’
by the Billiards Congress of America (BCA) to his list of internationally
recognized qualifications. To date, he remains the only BCA CERTIFIED
pool instructor in South East Asia. |
| Ricky’s
devotion to the cue sports has fuelled his desire to groom players
and continue to promote the sport in Singapore. Hence the creation
of Team Players Choice in 2002, consisting of six pioneer members.
These six ‘pioneer’ members formed the Management Committee
of the team, which has since grown to seven.
Members
of the Team Management Committee hold various appointments to help
in the daily running of the Player Development Programme. The committee
also comes together to vote on issues such as selection of players
to be sent (sponsored) for tournaments. |
