To our three young men (Beng Wee, John, and Joven) who played under the Players Choice flag, we are all proud of you and look forward to greater things to come!

.: Combined Training Session: Team Players Choice & SGPS :.
Training Report & Pictures

The boys from St. Gabriel's Primary School joined the Team Players Choice squad for a combined training session at Just American Pool @ Kim Seng on the 24th of May. Most of them had their parents in tow, and it was indeed heartening to see so much interest being generated in the game. The "older" TPC players, who were lucky enough to be paired with these younger but highly-enthusiastic exponents, were certainly impressed by their keenness to learn. Though the focus for the training session was on developing the fundamental skills of the boys, we certainly look forward to the possibility of keeping the parents up to speed with some pool skills of their own!

Acknowledgements: We'd like to thank Mr Cyril Ong, and all the other parents who made the evening possible! And to the boys, keep up the good work!!

.: Match report :.
Team Players Choice (Killerloop) vs. UOB
Games Fusion Invitational Team League Championship 2004

The score was 2-7 in UOB's favour. You could almost hear the fat lady warming up her vocal chords. With a team made up of mostly deadly-sharp snooker players, our opponents were showing why they were one of the league's leading teams and a force to be reckoned with.

At 2-7, we knew we had to put our act together somehow, and quickly! After suffering a narrow defeat (8-10) against them in the away fixture, we were looking forward to a favourable result at home. Our opponents certainly weren't going to make it easy for us.

Despite the large deficit, Team PCK (Players Choice Killerloop, ... not that curly-haired contractor) kept its spirits high. Everyone was encouraging everyone, and everybody wanted to do everybody proud. It must have been the team spirit that kept us going because we won every single game thereafter, thus bringing the final scoreline to 11-7.

(match report by Yanni)

PS. Yanni played an amazing last rack with a superb soft screw for placement on the 8, followed by a long pot into the only available corner pocket which won the match for us! You go, girl! - Julian

>> Next match: Friday, 16/04 vs Power Blaster: We will welcome Fabian into the Team PCK stable tomorrow, and look forward to some excellent performances from him!

.: Match info :.
Team Players Choice (Killerloop) vs. Headspot
Games Fusion Invitational Team League Championship 2004

In our first match of the tournament, we were defeated 8 - 10 by a strong young team from Headspot.

Headspot led from the first rack, and began pulling away in the second set of matches. There were some uncharacteristic mistakes from us tonight, which our opponents took full advantage of. We still managed to reduce their lead towards the end, but even with the 2 rack handicap (provided for all teams fielding a lady), we still required a win from the last rack of the match to tie the game and rescue a point. Unfortunately, I fumbled on a straight 3-ball in the corner pocket while trying too hard for position on the next ball. This was duly punished by their last player who went on to clear the table.

Cheers & thanks to Alfi, Iwan, & Jun who made the trip down to support us! We really appreciate it. >> Next match: Friday, 19/03 vs EPT1

Off to a flying start!
The first three training sessions of 2004 have seen fantastic turnouts of both new and 'not so new' faces at BPA. :) We'd like to extend a warm welcome to those who have recently joined us in 2004. Your zeal and enthusiasm have certainly brightened up the dreary Mondays!

Come every Monday, training tables have been overwhelmed with enthusiastic players waiting their turn. Even after the official training hours, the Players Choice entourage have swamped the tables at BPA as the players put into practice all they have learnt from our coaches. At this point, we'd like to thank our venue sponsor, BPA, for their support through sponsored table time, as well as generous discounts to our players.

See you on Monday!! [... Stay tuned for pics of our training sessions]
